Information Update: Books, CDs and Posters
Mar 21, 12:27 AM
My son Benjamin (who built this site), recently showed me how I
can update and post new information myself. He is in Costa Rica
right now, so I am flying solo. Hope I don’t crash this site. I will try
use some logic and navigate this thing myself. Wish me luck Ben!
The biggest news first: Will Steeds of the Elephant Book Company
in London is presently negotiating with Barnes & Noble for an art
book they want me to write and complile. It is to be called “A
Gallery Of Rock Art – A History Of Rock Concert Posters: From
1953 To The Present”. I will also be working on two more poster
book projects in the near future.
Last October I finished the packaging for the new ROKY ERICKSON
& THE EXPLOSIVES “HALLOWEEN” CD. This CD is a compilation of
unreleased live concerts from the late 70s and early 80s. The CD
is being released by SteadyBoy Records of Austin, Texas and will
be available soon. Roky & The Explosives recently returned from
their Scandinavian tour. I don’t know the release date, but check
out www.steadyboyrecords.com for more information. Jud Cost
did the liner notes for this project.
FREDDIE “STEADY” KRC, the drummer for The Explosives, also has
a new CD out with THE FREDDIE STEADY 5. It’s called “TEX POP”
and is great album. What does this CD sound like? Well, how about
The Beatles & The Byrds meet The Sir Douglas Quintet & P.F. Sloan
share some musical ideas! Freddie writes most of the songs on this
disc, but he covers tunes by some of the best songwriters ever:
Gene Clark, Jimmy Silva and P.F. Sloan. It’s always an honor, when
I get to do the packaging for a CD this good.
MAGIC CHRISTIAN will be playing a number of shows this year in
Austin, Texas, at the SXSW Music Festival. The line-up features
drummer CLEM BURKE (from Blondie), lead guitarist & vocalist
CYRIL JORDAN (from The Flamin’ Groovies), lead singer PAUL
KOPF (of Bay Pop) and bass player & vocalist EDDIE MUNOZ
(from The Plimsouls). Check out their March 2008 tour schedule at www.magicchristian.net.
I will try to add some grahics to this site next time. Gotta go walk
the dog now – wait – I just got an email to do a poster for an up
coming Nick Lowe and Robyn Hitchcock concert at The Fillmore.
